I left school at 16, and I was fortunate that I could access TAFE free of charge. That meant a kid from an average working-class family in Casino could get a traineeship and eventually go to university.

Today, almost 30 years later I’m looking around and seeing that the same opportunities aren’t available. I want young people to have the opportunity to achieve their best, the opportunity to contribute to society and live meaningful lives. The opportunity to access education, apprentices and secure employment. I want the people who live in our electorate to have the same opportunities as people who live in other areas.
