Patrick Deegan has worked in social welfare and child protection for over 20 years. Patrick is passionate about economic change for a just society, creating opportunities for young people, supporting our hospital and emergency service staff and fighting for a fair go for all Australians.
Patrick and his wife Gail have raised and educated four children – three school aged and one just entering the workforce – and are invested in quality education and secure jobs. With an elderly mother living locally, Patrick understands the valued role aged care services play in the electorate.
Patrick believes that Labor values are union values. Fighting for workers’ rights and campaigning to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people has characterised his union activism.
Patrick believes regional people deserve the same opportunities and services as those living in the cities. The current government, with the Nationals’ backing, has failed regional Australia. Cuts to childcare, aged care, schools, TAFEs and universities, high unemployment, insecure work and wage theft must stop.
Patrick is a local who listens. As part of a united Labor team, Patrick will fight for a fair go for every member of his electorate.
